Catching Fire From The Breath Of Smaug: The Review of Two Sequels
So, it's a New Year. It's Bye Bye 2013 and Hello 2014. I haven't been as active as I've wanted to with this blog but hey, some weeks or months are just like that. When you eat like a ton of calories from cheese and noodles important things take a backseat. Like these two great sequels that blew the theaters out of the water when they came out during the last 2 months of 2013.

Usually sequels come out disappointing and less than well received by fans of its predecessor, but one thing I can say about these two is that they do not disappoint. Watching movies in the Philippines can be a bit pricey but I didn't feel that I wasted resources watching them.

More awesomeness after the cut. *Contains Spoilers. A LOT of Spoilers*

An Early Christmas Present
My dad sent us a package about 2 weeks ago, since our 10 year old Microwave oven finally lost the good old fight and stopped working. I asked my dad to get me a netbook since it could really help a lot in my Master's (and if I get accepted to the Student Internship in Beijing then it could really help that I have a computer handy if I'm studying Business Chinese). I never thought that I would receive such a gift!

He actually got me an ASUS Vivobook S200E! In Freaking PINK!
How adorable does it look?
Aluminum finish

Papi also included an External hard drive for my brother as well as a 7 inch BlueDigit tablet. I've never heard of the brand but the packaging looks decent so I might do a short review of the Bluedigit tablet.

Our new DVD player and Microwave oven are LG. So, I'm quite confident on the quality of them. Both are black and looking stylish as ever, as expected from Korean made brands.

Thanks, Papi for such a great early Christmas Gift!

The Darker Side of the Hunger Games Trilogy
Why I believe The Hunger Games Trilogy has more substance than Fifty shades of Grey & Twilight

Yesterday, I got a chance to rewatch the first movie installment of the Hunger Games Trilogy, and it rekindled my love for the said book series. My love for the book has not reach the level of love I have reserved for the Harry Potter book series, but I have come to respect the following it has. Unlike most book fans, I actually like the movie, not just because of Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson but because the feel of the movie actually matches the feeling you get reading the book. The feel of the book changes as Katniss' character changes into a darker more mature person. 50 shades and Twilight are also immensely popular book series that I believe got more hype than what they deserve, not just in advertising but by how the books are written as well. I am going to compare these 3 book series since all of them are written in 1st person point of view. Twilight just finished its books to movie adaptations, 50 shades are well on their way and The Hunger Games will show its 2nd installment this November 21. More on this after the cut!

The Sweet Bromance of Asgardian Proportions; Thor 2 : The Dark World Movie Review
So, I promised a movie review of Jagten (The Hunt) but I still haven't finished watching it, mainly because I'm disturbed of the progress of the story. Sorry, but I'm putting it in the back burner and will just do a review about that movie once I've finally finished it. I will now move on to a movie I actually finished watching, Thor 2: The Dark World.

Last Friday, my friend, Gracie ordered a handbag from Sophie Martin ( Yes, I'm a bag dealer, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, for orders and inquiries, leave a cbox message, LOL), so we went out to get her order and then decided to watch the movie in Trinoma. We also ate in Bigoli, I had the Tour of Italy pasta platter which was totally delish, by the way. I couldn't take pictures because I was too busy waffing it down sinced we missed lunch. Anyway, long story short, we spent the afternoon, watching Thor and Loki kick some serious other realmly ass together. Spoilers ahead!

Of Gore, Death, Zombies and Amputated Limbs
So, I was looking for something to watch on Youtube and stumbled into this video from SDCC, San Diego Comic Con for the muggles who aren't familiar with it.

The  video is a short footage interview of fans who attended the convention. The million dollar question?
Which is better, The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones?  *dun dun DUN!*

Ricktator or the Mother of Dragons?

I will try and share my insights to what show is a better watch, after the cut.

I Ain't Gonna Beg

"I ain't gonna beg!
I ain't begging you!"

This is the last line of Michael Rooker's character in The Walking Dead, Merle Dixon. Racist, Druggie Big brother of Resident hottie, Daryl Dixon.

Why the sudden TWD post, you ask?

Well, my folks and I were watching the last season of The Walking Dead. More of a TWD marathon really. So, I got to rewatch the heart wrenching moment where Daryl finds out that Merle has turned and he has to be the one to kill his own big bro. Tore me up the first time I've watched it, really. What I find quite fascinating is the fact that my mom seems addicted to TWD. My mom, who dislikes anything with gore or horror, is addicted to Walking Dead.

Haha, anyway, Merle is characterized as a racist, druggie who seems to only care about himself. I really liked his last lines, as I've quoted above. It seems like it's the perfect way to end his character. He never gives up. He never gave up on his brother and this was his character's redemption.

I honestly like the shows that kill off characters that has served their purpose. I hope a few more TV series adapts this plot device. Not because I like seeing people die and get kicked off the show but I believe that death is a really effective drive a the remaining characters in the series. It's also a good source of mystery like Warrick Brown's death in CSI: Las Vegas. Well enough of the death topic. This is getting morbid. I hope I get to watch Season 4 of The Walking Dead soon! I miss Ric and the Gang.

I'm really glad that I was forced to watch this show, like, literally forced by Gracie to watch a Zombie filled show, one of kind of monster that I actually find terrifying. It's a human drama. Everything about the show I love. I just hope they don't kill my bebe,Daryl, anytime soon, because I just might quit watching it. Lol.

Norman Reedus is wearing a bikini top and everything else is irrelevant.
