The Sweet Bromance of Asgardian Proportions; Thor 2 : The Dark World Movie Review
So, I promised a movie review of Jagten (The Hunt) but I still haven't finished watching it, mainly because I'm disturbed of the progress of the story. Sorry, but I'm putting it in the back burner and will just do a review about that movie once I've finally finished it. I will now move on to a movie I actually finished watching, Thor 2: The Dark World.

Last Friday, my friend, Gracie ordered a handbag from Sophie Martin ( Yes, I'm a bag dealer, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, for orders and inquiries, leave a cbox message, LOL), so we went out to get her order and then decided to watch the movie in Trinoma. We also ate in Bigoli, I had the Tour of Italy pasta platter which was totally delish, by the way. I couldn't take pictures because I was too busy waffing it down sinced we missed lunch. Anyway, long story short, we spent the afternoon, watching Thor and Loki kick some serious other realmly ass together. Spoilers ahead!

The movie starts where the last movie left off. With Thor guarding Asgard and Jane Foster in Midgard pining for her Viking Beau. Even though the Bifrost is already repaired, Thor couldn't go back to Midgard because the other realms were apparent racked with war and famine, and he had to sort things out, being Odin's son, future king of Asgard and apparently guardian of the whole freaking galaxy. So, Jane being her meddlesome self, is researching for time-space continuum anomalies thinking it may lead her back to Thor again, which totally did, btw.

Jane, by chance, stumbled upon a portal where all realms converge upon, linking one realm to another. Little did they know that this is due to the well scheduled convergence of the 9 realms. Jane, found the Aether, an ancient power source of Dark Elves. Their king, Malekith played by Christopher Eccleston a.k.a the 9th Doctor, harnested this ancient energy to finish off Asgard but he failed and they lay dormant for thousands of years waitjng for the Aether to be released once again.

Back to Jane, so she stumbled upon the Aether, this reddish glow of light in between 2 huge ass stones. Being the curious scientist that she is, she extended her arm to touch it but the Aether instead took hold of her body and made it its host.

Thor sensing that something might be wrong when Heimdall couldn't see Jane's soul, travelled to Midgard and finally reunited with Jane. One thing leads to another, Jane kills a few police officers when they tried to arrest her, the Aether protecting its host. Thor brings Jane to Asgard to know what's wrong with her.

Odin then explains the source of the power inside of Jane, the story I just told a little while ago about Malekith and the failed attempt to totally destroy the universe. Malekith finally awakens when Jane harnested the Aether's energy set course upon Asgard to retrieve his secret weapon and hopefully killsome Asgardians in the process.

While Odin, Thor and his pals are busy protecting the people from a surprise attack from inside the palace, Malekith proceeded to locate Jane, who was with Thor and Loki's mother, Frigga for her protection. She was totally bad ass with her fight scene with Malekith using her long dagger to slash his face. Unfortunately, one of his henchmen help Malekith and killed Frigga when it was revealed that the Jane foster in the room was only an illusion conjured by Frigga herself.

With the queen dead, Malekith and his dudes decided that they will just return for the Aether and finally destroy Asgard. The Asgardians burn their dead into the galaxy with them turning into stars looking over Asgard.

Odin being the stubborn old man that he is, wants the battle to happen in Asgard, which Thor disagrees with since that would kill potentially millions of Asgardian citizens. Thor devices a plan that would have them escape Asgard with Jane and his brother Loki, who he convinced to help to avenge the death of their mom.

They travel into Malekith's planet with the aim of having the Aether taken from Jane's body then they will destroy it. They trick Malekith into thinking that Loki betrayed his brother and offered up Jane as a trade. Malekith harnesses the Aether and absorbs it into himself. While Thor uses his hammer to try and destroy the Aether. It doesn't work and fight scene ensues.

Loki gets "killed" and the couple is stuck in the barren wasteland that is Malekith's planet. They somehow find the portal between realms, with the help of Jane's failed attempt in dating, Michael calls her and she gets a signal in the other realm. They end up somewhere in England, finally meeting up with Darcy and Dr. Eric Selvig a.k.a. hynotized scientist in the Avengers. They finally figure out what's gonna happen and they conclude that the place where the realms will converge in, is in Greenwich, London.

They set up traps for Malekith's men, using the portal holes to their advantage. Epic fight scene almost flattens down Greenwich, London. In summary, Thor finishes off Malekith using the probes Jane made to transport things into the portals by stabbing it into his chest.

Thor returns to Asgard as Jane is left again to wait for him. He convinces his father that Loki died a hero and that he will not suceed him as king of Asgard, and he would be returning to Midgard to be with Jane. It is revealed that Loki is not dead and is actually disguising himself as Odin to rule over the realms.

Post credits Marvel cut:
The surprise ending movie cut shows Sif and Volstagg surrendering a stone containing the Aether energy to " The Collector", saying that the Tesseract and the Aether can't be in the same place at the same time. The collector takes it as he smiles while Sif and Volstagg leaves saying 1 ancient stone down, 5 to go.

THE REVIEW:

I liked Thor 2 a lot hell better than Thor in 2010. Mainly because of the added familiarity with the characters as well as the small burst of humor along the movie. The short lines and small looks that the characters that produced such well placed humor in an other wise boring plot.Cameos done by Chris Evans and the ever present Stan Lee produced a lot of laughs.

The story went in an even pace, that just when you get bored of all the talking, a fight sequence appears and you just get excited all over again. The effects and the make up were extraordinary. I personally am scared of the make up they did to Christopher Eccleston and his people. They do look a little creepy.

Major fangirl treat since Thor and Loki shares a lot of screen time together. Unlike with the 1st Thor movie which had limited Loki alloted time. The part where Loki supposedly dies was heartbreaking, even had me saying, NO! outloud in the cinema.

I do hope he will still appear in the 2nd Avengers movie, since fans willbe expecting it as he is not yet dead but only in disguise.

I am totally excited for next year's Marvel treats, namely Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier.
